Bilawal Bhutto Demands Agricultural Emergency, Waiver of Electricity Bills for Flood-Hit Farmers

MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman **Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari** has urged the government to impose an **agricultural emergency** and waive electricity bills for farmers in flood-affected areas.
Speaking in **Muzaffargarh**, Bilawal said he had personally witnessed the devastation caused by floods in Lahore, Kasur, and now in South Punjab, where farmers and the agricultural economy had suffered the most.
He stressed that the **Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)** was the most effective mechanism to deliver aid to the needy. “This is why I have requested the Prime Minister to immediately start relief distribution through BISP for flood victims,” he stated.
The PPP chairman further demanded that the government provide **seeds and fertilizer** to farmers while ensuring close coordination between federal and provincial governments.
“This is not the time for political point scoring,” Bilawal said, adding that timely and transparent aid delivery to deserving flood victims was the government’s collective responsibility.
