Floods Devastate Southern Punjab; Thousands Displaced as Dykes Collapse

BAHAWALPUR: Floods continue to wreak havoc across Punjab, submerging dozens of villages and displacing hundreds of thousands of people.

According to local media, the **breach of the Super Bund in Azmatpur, Alipur tehsil**, has inundated vast areas, forcing residents to evacuate on their own.

In **Bahawalnagar**, the floodwaters have submerged **143 villages**, compelling over **100,000 people** to flee their homes. Crops, houses, and essential infrastructure have been destroyed, leaving locals in distress.

Meanwhile, in **Kabirwala**, floodwaters from the breach of the **Mai Safuran dyke on the Ravi River** have inundated **40 villages**, displacing more than **80,000 people**. Homes, crops, and government buildings have sustained heavy damage.

Authorities report that although water levels at **Ganda Singh on the Sutlej River** have slightly receded, the high flood level remains a serious threat, raising fears of further inundation in surrounding areas.
