Karachi: Actress Zhalay Sarhadi openly criticized fashion designer Maria B during a podcast, saying she does not like her because she creates controversial videos merely for fame. According to Zhalay, Maria B’s style often portrays a negative image of Pakistan globally and fuels unnecessary disputes for popularity.

Discussing feminism, Zhalay clarified that it is not about hating men but about giving women the rights they deserve based on their hard work and abilities. She emphasized that whether a woman chooses to stay at home or build a career, it is her choice — and that choice itself represents true feminism. Success, pay, and respect, she said, should depend on merit and capability, not gender.

While criticizing Maria B’s controversial approach, Zhalay praised actress Mishi Khan for spreading positive and constructive messages through social media.

It is worth noting that Maria B has previously been embroiled in controversies over statements on homosexuality and transgender issues. Recently, she also faced investigation by the Cyber Crime Agency following her remarks regarding an alleged immoral party in Lahore, further intensifying debates around her public image.
