Tarbela Dam Spillways to Be Opened Amid Rising Water Flow in River Indus

Islamabad: Due to continuous heavy rainfall, water levels in the River Indus have risen significantly, prompting authorities to open the spillways of **Tarbela Dam**, the **National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)** announced.

According to the NDMA, the spillways will be opened **today at 12:30 PM**, and the water discharge is expected to reach up to **250,000 cusecs**.

In light of the anticipated surge in river flow, residents of adjoining areas have been **urged to avoid going near water channels**. The NDMA has issued advance warnings to all concerned departments and advised residents of low-lying areas to remain alert and **cooperate with local authorities** to ensure safety.
