Free Electric Motorbikes for Women: Eligibility Criteria and Application Process Announced

Karachi: The eligibility criteria and application process for women to receive free electric motorbikes under a new initiative have been officially announced. The Sindh Workers Welfare Board has launched a scheme to distribute 10,000 electric bikes to female industrial workers.
Sindh Labour Minister Shahid Thahim stated that registration for the program is now open, and eligible women can submit their applications through the official website of the Workers Welfare Board at [www.wwbsindh.gov.pk](http://www.wwbsindh.gov.pk).
To ensure transparency, the selection of recipients will be conducted through a digital ballot system, minimizing the possibility of human interference.
According to the minister, female industrial workers up to the age of 45 are eligible to apply, and 20% of the bikes have been reserved for women from minority communities. Selected applicants will be granted a 60-day period to obtain a valid driving license.
Minister Thahim emphasized the importance of empowering women, noting that they make up half of the country’s population and are essential to Pakistan’s sustainable development.
The announcement follows the 33rd meeting of the Workers Welfare Board Sindh, chaired by Shahid Thahim, during which several key schemes were approved. These include the distribution of electric bikes to 10,000 industrial female workers, the launch of an accidental health insurance scheme, rehabilitation of labour colonies and educational institutions, and the provision of sewing machines to industrial workers.
