Families Demand Safe Recovery of Missing Youth from Ormara; Warn of Widespread Protests

Quetta:The sister of **Sagheer Ahmed**, a missing youth from Balochistan, has accused security personnel of **forcibly disappearing** her brother and cousin, **Iqrar Baloch**, from the **Ormara checkpoint** on the night of **June 11, 2025**. She demanded their immediate appearance before a court and warned of **intensified protests** if their whereabouts remain undisclosed.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at the **Baloch Voice for Missing Persons camp on Court Road, Quetta**, she said that **63 days have passed** since her brother and cousin were taken into custody, yet **no FIR has been registered**, **no legal proceedings initiated**, and **no official statement or notification** has been issued by any state institution.

“This is not the first time,” she said. “My brother was previously abducted in **November 2017** after appearing in an exam at **Karachi University** and was kept in secret detention for nearly a year, where he endured physical and psychological torture.”

She described **Sagheer Ahmed** as an **educated youth**, who completed his higher education from **Karachi University** and **Sargodha University**, and returned to his hometown in **Awaran** to contribute to his community. However, due to lack of employment, he moved to **Turbat** and began working with his cousin Iqrar Baloch to earn a living. “Their only crime was being Baloch and working hard to support their families,” she stated.

She further revealed that **Iqrar Baloch is suffering from a kidney condition** and requires urgent medical attention — a right guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan to every citizen.

“If there are any allegations against them, they must be **presented in a court of law** and tried through proper legal channels,” she emphasized.

The family has announced a **series of protests**:

* First, they will demonstrate in front of the **Quetta Press Club**.
* If ignored, they plan a **sit-in outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Awaran**.
* And finally, if there is still no justice, they will **block the Hoshab Road**, escalating their protest.

She held the **government and security agencies** fully responsible for the consequences of any deterioration in the situation.

She concluded with an **appeal to the Supreme Court, human rights organizations, civil society, and the media** to take **immediate and practical steps** for the safe recovery of **Sagheer Ahmed and Iqrar Baloch**, asserting that silence and inaction in the face of enforced disappearances is unacceptable.
