Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Urges India to See China as Partner, Not Threat

New Delhi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, in New Delhi and emphasized that China and India should regard each other as partners rather than enemies or threats. Wang Yi called for establishing a proper strategic understanding between the two nations and expressed China’s readiness to maintain harmony and mutually beneficial relations.

The high-level Chinese diplomat arrived in India on Monday and is expected to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day visit. Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar said both neighboring countries want to move forward after a difficult phase in their relationship and stressed that differences should not escalate into conflicts or confrontations.

This meeting comes amid efforts by China and India to improve ties amidst global trade tensions sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff wars. Wang Yi is also scheduled to visit Islamabad this week, while Indian media reports suggest that Prime Minister Modi may visit China later this month.
