Train Accident Near Lodhran: 1 Dead, 19 Injured as Awam Express Derails

Multan:A tragic train accident occurred near **Lodhran Railway Station**, where **four bogies of the Awam Express** derailed, resulting in the **death of one passenger** and **injuries to 19 others**.

The **Awam Express** was en route from **Peshawar to Karachi** when the incident took place. Emergency teams promptly arrived at the scene and began a **rescue operation** to evacuate passengers still trapped inside the derailed compartments.

According to **Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir**, rescue efforts are ongoing, and the **cause of the derailment is yet to be determined**. Among the injured, **two passengers are said to be in critical condition** and are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Despite the derailment, **train movement on both up and down tracks remains unaffected**, as authorities work to clear the damaged carriages and restore full operations.

The incident has once again raised questions about **railway safety and infrastructure maintenance**, especially on heavily used routes like the one connecting Peshawar to Karachi. An official investigation is expected to be launched soon.
