Actress Diya Mughal Opens Up About Struggles in Showbiz: “Used to Eat Days-Old Food, Faced Rejection Without Reason

Karachi:Pakistani actress Diya Mughal recently opened up for the first time about the harsh realities she faced in her early showbiz career. In a candid TV interview, she revealed the loneliness, rejection, and emotional struggles she endured while trying to build a career in Karachi, far from her family in Lahore.
When the electricity used to go out, I would be alone in a pitch-dark flat with just a candle. It was terrifying, but I didn’t give up,” she recalled.
Soon after moving to Karachi, Diya was cast in a drama — but within just two days, the shoot was abruptly canceled. Later, she discovered she had been dropped from the project without any clear reason. According to Diya, the project head admitted she had no flaws in her acting but was removed simply because she didn’t engage in small talk on set or socialize much with the team.
This hurt deeply,” she said. “I believe acting is about talent and dedication — not jokes and chit-chat.”
Living alone in Karachi brought further challenges. Diya often had to eat leftover food for days due to limited resources, and power outages made her feel even more isolated and fearful. Despite everything, she stayed strong and chose not to return home or quit.
Reflecting on her journey, she says the tough times made her stronger, more independent, and determined to succeed. Today, her acclaimed performances in dramas like *Mai Ri*, *Ishq Nachaya*, *Kankar*, and *Pehchaan* are a testament to her resilience and talent.
Diya Mughal’s story is one of perseverance and proves that even in the face of rejection and hardship, passion and determination can lead to success.
