Model Rubab Masood Faces Backlash for Criticizing Men’s Sitting Posture

Islamabad: Former Pakistani model **Rubab Masood** has come under fire on social media after criticizing the way men sit, prompting backlash due to her own attire and posture during a recent TV appearance.
Rubab, once a prominent figure in the fashion industry known for her appearances in numerous fashion shows, commercials, and music videos — most notably in Junaid Jamshed’s hit song *”Hum Kyun Chalein Us Raah Par”* — was a guest on a private morning show where she offered etiquette advice regarding men’s sitting posture.
While speaking on the topic, Rubab said:
No matter how educated, wealthy, or well-mannered men are, many still sit improperly. They cross one leg over the other with their foot often pointing toward another person’s face. On top of that, they keep shaking their foot, which is highly disrespectful. How can someone sit like that? It’s insulting to others.”*
However, her comments sparked criticism due to what viewers saw as a contradiction — she herself was dressed in tight jeans and a short shirt and was sitting in the same *cross-legged* manner she criticized.
Social media users were quick to call out the hypocrisy. One commented, *”Cross-legged sitting never looks decent in any context.”* Another said, *”She’s teaching men etiquette while sitting improperly herself in revealing clothes.”*
One harsh comment read: *”Nothing is right about her, but when it comes to men, everything needs to be perfect — cheap feminist.”*
While Rubab’s intent may have been to promote respectful behavior, her message was overshadowed by the perceived disconnect between her words and her own conduct during the show.
