Yasir Hussain Speaks Out Against Lavish Weddings, Urges Simplicity

Pakistani actor and director Yasir Hussain has spoken out against the growing trend of extravagant weddings in society, urging people to embrace simplicity instead.
During a recent talk show appearance, Hussain said, *”Don’t make marriage so difficult. It’s a very simple thing—just do the nikkah, serve food, and that’s it.”* He criticized the pressure of having multiple events, calling it *“cruelty”* and unnecessary.
“I’ve seen some of my friends getting married, and the stress of expenses has completely dulled their faces,” he said, adding that weddings are supposed to be joyful occasions, but financial burdens are stealing that joy.
Co-guest and fellow actor Faisal Qureshi pointed out that even an average wedding these days costs around 5 million rupees (PKR 50 lakhs). In response, Hussain remarked, *“With that kind of money, you could start a decent business, travel to two countries, or even buy an apartment.”*
The actor’s remarks have sparked conversation online, with many applauding his realistic perspective on modern wedding culture and the unnecessary pressure it creates for families and couples.
