Senior Journalist Mansoor Ali Khan Grills PML-N Leader Nihal Hashmi on Live Show
Lahore: In a heated television debate, senior journalist Mansoor Ali Khan cornered Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nihal Hashmi with a series of pointed questions, leaving the politician visibly flustered and struggling to respond. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Latif Khosa, also present during the discussion, was seen laughing at the exchange.
During the show, Nihal Hashmi began by admitting, “We were compelled to raise petrol prices, but we will bring them down within two months.” Mansoor Ali Khan immediately countered, “Were you also compelled on February 8?”—referring to the 2024 general elections. Hashmi seemed caught off guard, asking, “Which February 8?”
Khan clarified that he was referring to the day of the elections, to which Hashmi responded by saying the people of Pakistan had placed their trust in the PML-N, citing Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif’s development track record. He claimed no other prime minister had done as much for the country’s infrastructure or kept petrol prices as low during their tenure.
Khan interrupted, asking sharply, “Mr. Hashmi, is petrol cheap today? Do you even know the current price?” Hashmi replied, “I’m not talking about today, I’m talking about the past.” Khan retorted, “What am I supposed to do with the past—fill up my tank with yesterday’s petrol?”
Trying to reassure the anchor, Hashmi said, “In the future, you will get cheaper petrol.” But Mansoor Ali Khan wasn’t letting go and posed another critical question: “Who appointed Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb?”
Hashmi answered, “He is a member of Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet.” Dissatisfied with the vague response, Khan pressed further, “I know he’s in the cabinet, but I’m asking who brought him in?” Hashmi finally replied, “Obviously, he is Shehbaz Sharif’s choice.”
The exchange has gone viral on social media, with viewers praising Mansoor Ali Khan’s persistence and sharp questioning.
