Punjab CM’s Political Secretary Warns Against Character Assassination, Offers Constructive Advice

Lahore: Zeeshan Malik, the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Punjab, has issued a stern warning to those engaging in character assassination under the guise of political opposition. He also offered valuable advice, urging critics to maintain civility in political discourse.
This statement follows the viral circulation of a video in which an elderly man used highly inappropriate language against government officials and state institutions, reportedly triggered by heavy rainfall and waterlogging in Lahore. The video sparked widespread reaction on social media. However, a follow-up video surfaced the next day in which the same elderly man appeared remorseful, expressing regret for his earlier remarks and vowing not to repeat such behavior.
Both videos have been widely shared across social platforms, fueling debate over acceptable limits of political criticism.
In a post on the social media platform X, Zeeshan Malik stated, “If you disagree with government policies, you have every right to criticize, highlight flaws, and suggest improvements—but it must be done with reason and decency.”
He added, “However, if political opposition descends into personal attacks and character assassination, such behavior will not be tolerated by anyone.”
Malik’s comments appear to call for more respectful political engagement amid increasing tensions and online polarization.
