Anchorperson Alina Shigri Denied Entry to Meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail Despite Defence Minister’s Assurance

Rawalpindi: Anchorperson Alina Shigri revealed that she was denied entry into Adiala Jail despite having her name on the official list and acting upon the directive of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. She had attempted to visit imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan to assess the jail conditions he is being kept under.
Speaking to the media, Shigri said Khawaja Asif had challenged the media during his appearance on her show to present the ground realities instead of following media narratives. “The Defence Minister claimed that Imran Khan is enjoying far better facilities than any other inmate and urged the media to go and verify,” she said.
Alina Shigri explained that she informed Khawaja Asif in advance about her intent to visit Imran Khan based on his challenge. Her name was officially included in the PTI’s approved visitors’ list, and all necessary protocols were followed. However, when she arrived at Adiala Jail, police officials denied her entry, citing delays as an excuse.
“Despite the Defence Minister’s assurance and my name being on the list, I was not allowed to meet Imran Khan,” she added. In response to questions about her inclusion in the visitors’ list, Shigri confirmed that it was coordinated with the relevant authorities at Khawaja Asif’s suggestion. She emphasized that the jail administration should respect instructions from the sitting government, especially when communicated directly by a federal minister.
