Emergency Chrome Update Released to Patch Critical Security Flaw – Users Urged to Update Immediately

Washington:Google has released an **emergency security update** for its Chrome web browser to fix a **critical vulnerability** in the V8 JavaScript engine. The flaw, identified as **CVE-2025-5554**, has been rated **8.1 out of 10 in severity**, making it a high-risk threat.

According to Google, the security hole could allow hackers to steal sensitive information, install **malware** or **ransomware**, and potentially take control of vulnerable systems. The company has confirmed that this flaw **has already been exploited in the wild**, prompting the need for urgent action from users.

This marks the **second emergency update** for Chrome in a month and the **fourth critical patch in 2025**.

### 🔧 How to Update Chrome:

1. Open **Google Chrome**
2. Click the **three-dot menu** in the top-right corner
3. Go to **Settings**
4. Click on **About Chrome** (bottom-left)
5. Chrome will automatically check and download the latest version
6. Click **”Relaunch”** to apply the update

Google emphasized that Chrome is used by **over half of all internet users globally**, meaning the flaw could affect **millions worldwide** if not patched.
