Government Announces New Petrol and Diesel Prices with Significant Increase

Islamabad: The government has officially announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products. According to the new pricing structure, the price of diesel has been raised by Rs10.39 per liter, while petrol has seen an increase of Rs8.36 per liter.

Following this revision, the new price of petrol will be Rs266.79 per liter, and diesel will now cost Rs272.98 per liter. The price hikes will come into effect immediately, as confirmed by the official notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.

Sources have revealed that the new prices also include a carbon levy of Rs2.50 per liter. Additionally, the government has reduced the levy on petrol to Rs75.52 per liter, while the levy on high-speed diesel has been set at Rs74.51 per liter.

This price adjustment comes at a time when global oil prices and other market factors have been affecting the overall fuel costs in the country. The government’s decision has sparked discussions on its potential impact on inflation and the cost of living.
