Woman Dies After Confrontation with Motorway Police Over Traffic Fine in Sahiwal

Sahiwal, Pakistan:A tragic incident unfolded on the Sahiwal-Multan Road near Sadiq Feeds Mills, where a woman died after a confrontation between her son, Abrar, and motorway police officers. The confrontation, which started over a traffic fine, quickly escalated, leading to a fatal outcome.
According to reports, the incident began when the motorway police issued a fine to Abrar for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. Abrar attempted to delay the payment of the fine, pleading with the officers to let him go without paying. Despite his efforts, he eventually paid the fine and proceeded to record a video of the police officer, Sub-Inspector Shamon, which reportedly angered the officer.
In retaliation, Sub-Inspector Shamon threatened to arrest Abrar and confiscated his mobile phone. As the situation intensified, Abrar’s mother, who was present at the scene, begged the officers for leniency. However, the situation took a tragic turn when the officers reportedly shoved the woman, causing her to fall to the ground. She collapsed and suffered a heart attack, passing away on the spot.
The woman, identified as a resident of Chichawatni, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Her grieving family, distraught by the loss, laid her body on the road as a form of protest, demanding justice for her untimely death. They have called for accountability of the officers involved and urged authorities to take action.
The incident has sparked outrage among local communities, with many criticizing the police for their heavy-handed approach and lack of empathy towards the family. As of now, local authorities have launched an investigation into the matter. However, the family and the local community continue to demand justice, with protests expected to intensify unless the authorities take appropriate action.
This tragic event raises serious concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers and the need for reforms to ensure better handling of such situations in the future.
