Myanmar Defeats Pakistan 1-0 in AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

RANGOON – In a closely contested encounter at the Thuwunna Football Stadium, Myanmar edged past Pakistan 1-0 in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, marking their first meeting since 1974.

The match kicked off at a fast pace, with both sides creating promising opportunities. However, it was in the 41st minute that Myanmar capitalized on a free-kick just outside the box, awarded after a foul by a Pakistani defender. Than Paing expertly converted the chance to give the home side a crucial lead.

Despite increased intensity and end-to-end action in the second half, neither team was able to score again. The match ended with Myanmar securing their second victory in Group E.

Pakistan, meanwhile, continues its struggle in the qualifiers, having previously lost to Syria in their opening match. Group E of the qualifiers also features Afghanistan and Syria alongside Pakistan and Myanmar.

Myanmar now stands in a stronger position after consecutive wins, while Pakistan will need to regroup quickly to keep their qualifying hopes alive.
