Advisory Issued for Influencers Following Brutal Murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf

Islamabad: In the wake of the shocking murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has issued a detailed advisory for digital content creators, urging them to prioritize safety both online and in real life.
According to the advisory, influencers, vloggers, TikTokers, and bloggers are strongly advised to avoid revealing their live locations during livestreams or posts. They are also urged not to accept friend requests from unknown individuals or attend suspicious meetups.
The NCERT advisory highlights that creators should maintain a secure, responsible, and positive digital presence. It warns that one’s identity and opinions can expose them to threats both online and offline. Content creators are encouraged to follow NCERT’s safety guidelines to ensure personal and digital protection.
Additional recommendations include:
Avoid sharing real-time locations during livestreams or stories.
Use multi-factor authentication and strong passwords for social media accounts.
Regularly monitor comments and messages on platforms.
Immediately deny and report any deepfake videos or audios.
Set strict privacy settings and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
Block and report any inappropriate or abusive comments.
The advisory serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by public figures in the digital age. It comes after a tragic incident on June 2, when 22-year-old TikToker Umar Hayat, also known as “Kaka,” allegedly shot and killed Sana Yousaf at her residence in response to a rejected friendship request.
Police arrested the suspect within 20 hours of the incident. He has since been presented in court, and the Islamabad District and Sessions Court has sent him on a 14-day judicial remand for an identity parade.
Authorities emphasize the need for digital creators to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to safeguard their personal security in light of rising threats against online influencers.
