Supreme Court Overturns Sindh High Court’s Decision to Halt Grade 1–4 Hiring

Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has set aside the Sindh High Court’s decision that halted the recruitment of employees in Grade 1 to 4 across various departments in Sindh.
The hearing took place at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry, where the Sindh government had filed an appeal against the High Court’s ruling. The provincial government argued that the decision was issued without hearing their stance.
The government’s counsel informed the court that appointment letters had already been issued to many candidates, and each case had different merits. “The High Court imposed a blanket ban on all recruitments, which is not appropriate,” the lawyer added.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court observed, “These are minor-grade jobs. Are we now supposed to conduct interviews for positions like janitors and watchmen?”
The apex court nullified the Sindh High Court’s earlier decision and directed that the matter be reconsidered on merit after hearing all parties involved.
