CDA Reverses Fare Hike for Islamabad Metro and Electric Buses After Public Backlash

Following widespread **public backlash**, the **Capital Development Authority (CDA)** has announced the **restoration of previous fares** for all **metro and electric bus services** in Islamabad.

According to a CDA spokesperson, the decision to roll back the fare increase was made on the **instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif**, and an official **notification has been issued**.

The directive applies **immediately** to all routes, including the **Orange Line**, **Green Line Metro**, and **electric feeder buses**.

The fare hike had triggered **strong protests from commuters**, with many criticizing the decision as unfair amidst rising inflation. In response to the mounting pressure, the government was compelled to **withdraw the revised fares**.

Public transport users have welcomed the decision, calling it a **much-needed relief** for daily commuters in the federal capital.
