“Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Accuses Gen. Bajwa of Overstepping Political Boundaries”

Islamabad:Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has once again taken a jab at former Army Chief General (retd.) Qamar Javed Bajwa, accusing him of excessive political involvement during his tenure. In a candid interview with a private TV channel, Asif remarked, “There’s a lot buried in my chest. When my meter runs, I occasionally speak against Bajwa.”
He added that when he voices criticism, Gen. Bajwa allegedly complains to his elders. “Our two generations haven’t done as much politics as Bajwa did in his five-year tenure,” Asif said.
The minister revealed that during the crucial 10 days of November when the new Army Chief was to be appointed, Gen. Bajwa would present a new “package” every day — and each package, he claimed, featured Bajwa’s own picture. “If I speak too much, there will be more complaints,” Asif warned.
Comparing the current Army Chief to his predecessor, he said, “There is a world of difference between Bajwa and the present COAS. Bajwa used to say, either extend my tenure or appoint someone I choose.”
On regional matters, Asif emphasized the need for a diplomatic offensive against India, highlighting the case of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav as concrete proof of Indian terrorism. He stated that India was upset over former U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks on Kashmir, as the issue had returned to the global spotlight.
