CM Sarfraz Bugti Chairs High-Level Meeting on Electricity Supply in Balochistan

Quetta:A high-level meeting of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, **Mir Sarfraz Bugti**, at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The meeting focused on the province’s electricity distribution system, public complaints, and ongoing power development projects in remote areas.
**QESCO CEO Syed Yousaf Shah** briefed the meeting on the current state of electricity supply, key challenges faced by the company, and potential solutions. The Chief Minister issued strict directives to ensure **uninterrupted power supply across the province**, particularly during the summer months.
He stressed the need for a **comprehensive and effective strategy** to fix faults in the transmission system and directed QESCO to prioritize public relief. “The complaint redressal mechanism must be made more responsive so that grievances of ordinary citizens are heard and addressed promptly,” he said.
Highlighting the urgency of reducing **unjustified load shedding and unnecessary power cuts**, the CM emphasized that **providing electricity relief during extreme summer heat is QESCO’s foremost responsibility**.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti also instructed QESCO to **expedite ongoing electrification projects** in remote and underdeveloped areas such as Dera Bugti and Bekar. He called for **sustainable planning** to improve electricity access in these regions.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering basic services to the people of Balochistan, stating, “We will leave no stone unturned. All public sector institutions must fulfill their duties with honesty and dedication.”
