iPhone 16 Becomes World’s Best-Selling Smartphone in Q1 2025, Marking a Major Comeback for Apple

Cupertino, California:In a significant milestone, Apple’s iPhone 16 emerged as the **world’s best-selling smartphone** in the **first quarter of 2025**, marking the first time in two years that Apple’s **base model** has claimed the top spot in global sales.
This achievement is a positive sign for Apple, especially at a time when it faces increasing pressure in key markets like **China**, where government subsidies have boosted the sales of more affordable domestic brands.
According to data from March 2025, **four Apple models** were among the **top 10 best-selling smartphones worldwide**:
* iPhone 16
* iPhone 16 Pro
* iPhone 16 Pro Max
* iPhone 15
Meanwhile, **Samsung** also had a strong showing, with its **Galaxy A16 5G** securing the **fifth position**. Overall, Samsung also had four devices in the global top 10 list, indicating strong competition between the two tech giants.
Although Apple’s **total revenue** for the quarter stood at **\$69.14 billion**, slightly below expectations, the strong performance of the iPhone 16 brought renewed optimism for the company.
Notably, the newly introduced **iPhone 16e**, a more affordable variant, performed well and ranked **sixth in global sales**. This is seen as a considerable improvement over previous budget models like the iPhone SE.
However, analysts caution that challenges remain. Apple must navigate ongoing **US-China trade tensions**, rising competition, and **high consumer expectations** tied to the upcoming **Apple Intelligence** AI features.
Experts suggest that while the iPhone 16’s success is encouraging, **continued innovation** and the introduction of **new, compelling features** will be essential for Apple to maintain its market leadership in an increasingly competitive tech landscape.
