No New Tax on Solar Panels; 25% Income Tax Relief Announced for Teachers: FBR Chairman

ISLAMABAD:Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mehmood Langrial, has clarified that no decision has been made to impose additional taxes on the import of solar panels, nor is there any proposal to increase the current tax rates on solar equipment.
According to media reports, the FBR chief also announced a significant tax relief for educators. Starting from the next fiscal year, teachers across Pakistan will be eligible for a **25% income tax exemption**, a move aimed at supporting the salaried class and acknowledging their contributions.
He added that for the current fiscal year, teachers will either receive refunds or adjustments under the same tax relief policy.
Langrial further stated that the FBR, in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is actively working to secure **relief for salaried individuals**. Discussions are ongoing to provide similar assistance to other sectors as part of broader economic support measures.
