Kangana Ranaut Deletes Controversial Post Comparing Modi and Trump After BJP’s Reprimand

Bollywood actress and newly elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut found herself in hot water after posting a controversial message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where she compared Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to former U.S. President Donald Trump. The post, which went viral, was later deleted following a reported call from BJP President J.P. Nadda.
Kangana’s now-deleted post was a reaction to reports that Donald Trump had allegedly advised Apple CEO Tim Cook against setting up a manufacturing unit in India. In her post, Kangana praised PM Modi as “more alpha than Trump,” stating, “Trump may be the President of the United States, but the most admired leader in the world is Modi. Trump is an alpha male, but Modi is the father of alpha males.” She also questioned whether Trump’s move was due to “personal jealousy or diplomatic insecurity.”
The post sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many accusing her of embarrassing her own party. Screenshots of her deleted post were widely circulated, and users mocked her for her political naivety. One user wrote, “Kangana has proven she’s the most clueless MP in India,” while another sarcastically said, “Maybe Rahul Gandhi planted her in the BJP.”
YouTuber Dhruv Rathee also weighed in, questioning why the BJP forced her to delete the post. “Is the BJP afraid of Donald Trump?” he asked.
In her clarification, Kangana confirmed that she deleted the post after receiving instructions from the BJP leadership. “J.P. Nadda ji personally called me and asked me to remove the tweet regarding Trump,” she wrote, adding, “I regret expressing my personal opinion and have deleted the post from Instagram as well.”
The incident highlights the challenges celebrities face when transitioning into politics, particularly within a tightly controlled party environment like the BJP.
