Targeted Killing in Lyari: Father of Three Shot Dead by Unknown Assailants

Karachi: A tragic incident of targeted killing occurred in the Lyari area of Karachi, where a father of three was gunned down near a private hospital late Wednesday night. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Saleem Soomro, was sitting on a bench near Agra Taj when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled the scene.
According to initial reports, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Kalri Police Station, on Salman Azad Road. A bullet wound to the forehead proved fatal for Soomro, who died on the spot. His body was transported to Civil Hospital Karachi via Edhi ambulance, where he was formally identified as the son of Rahim Soomro.
Saleem Soomro reportedly lived close to the crime scene and often sat at the location where the attack occurred. His cousin, speaking to Express News at the hospital, shared that Soomro was a hardworking man employed as a crane operator at a private company in Korangi.
Family members confirmed that the attackers did not steal Soomro’s motorcycle or any personal belongings, strengthening their suspicion that this was a case of targeted killing. However, the family expressed no knowledge of any enmity that could have led to the murder.
Police are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made so far.
