Punjab Announces School Closures and Emergency Measures Following Indian Missile Strikes

LAHORE:In the wake of India’s recent missile attacks on Pakistan, **Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz** has announced the closure of all educational institutions in the province for today. The decision comes as part of the implementation of **emergency measures** to ensure public safety and security following the escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.
In her statement, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz strongly condemned India’s **cowardly attacks**, emphasizing that **Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity** would be defended at all costs. She declared, “**The protection of every inch of Pakistan is part of our faith and my oath.**” She further added that Punjab’s land, home to martyrs and warriors, would not be left vulnerable. “**The blood of innocent lives shed tonight on our land is a debt we must repay. The entire nation stands with our armed forces in this war imposed upon us by India.**”
The Chief Minister also ordered immediate emergency responses from the provincial administration, stating, “**Victory, Inshallah, will be ours.**” She ended her statement with a patriotic slogan, “**Takbeer, Allahu Akbar, Pakistan Zindabad!**”
As a precautionary measure, the **Punjab government** also announced that **all medical staff** in the province’s hospitals would be on duty, with all leaves **canceled** to handle potential casualties in case of further escalation.
In addition to educational institutions, officials from **civil defense and other key departments** have been called into action to respond to the ongoing crisis.
India’s missile attacks targeted **five locations** in Pakistan, including civilian areas and mosques. Initial reports confirm that **two civilians** have been martyred as a result of these strikes. In response, the **Pakistan Air Force** has successfully downed **two Indian aircraft**.
The situation remains tense as both countries brace for potential further military action.
