Grand Health Alliance Strike in Punjab Government Hospitals Enters 14th Day; Patients Left Without Treatment

Lahore: The Grand Health Alliance’s strike against privatization in Punjab’s government hospitals has entered its 14th day, leaving thousands of patients without medical treatment across Lahore and other districts. Despite efforts by hospital administrations to deploy senior doctors in some departments, the majority of units remain non-functional.
Patients and their families continue to face severe difficulties as OPD (Outpatient Department) services stay shut. Conditions at hospital registration counters are also uncertain—some are understaffed, while others are completely unattended—leading to unusually long queues of patients.
Although authorities claimed that medical services would be maintained, eyewitness reports suggest that many doctors remain in their offices but are seen occupied with mobile phones instead of attending to patients. The Grand Health Alliance has reiterated its firm stance against any privatization initiatives and declared that the protest will continue until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, patients and their relatives are appealing to both the government and doctors to reach a consensus urgently, emphasizing the need to protect human lives amid the ongoing crisis.
