Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid’s Message on International Labour Day: “Honouring the Backbone of National Progress”

Islamabad: On the occasion of International Labour Day, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, paid rich tribute to the hardworking labour force of Pakistan, recognizing them as the backbone of national development.
In her message, Senator Rubina Khalid lauded the unwavering dedication, tireless spirit, and significant contributions of the country’s labour force toward Pakistan’s prosperity. “Today, we honour the invaluable role of our workers whose relentless efforts are driving the nation forward,” she said.
She emphasized that a dignified society can only be built on the foundations of equal respect, employment opportunities, and access to development for all. “As we celebrate Labour Day, we acknowledge the vital contributions of labourers to our economy and society. This day is about recognizing their struggles, hard work, and steadfast determination to build a better future for themselves and their families.”
Senator Rubina highlighted the role of the Benazir Nashonuma and Hunarmand Programmes, stating that these initiatives are a testament to BISP’s commitment to empowering underprivileged women and their families with marketable skills. “By equipping them with valuable expertise, we aim to transform beneficiary families into confident, self-reliant contributors to our national workforce,” she added.
Reflecting on the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Senator Rubina quoted her saying, “Skill is your real asset — one that can never be taken from you.” She reiterated that the programme not only creates employment but also instills confidence and self-sufficiency among beneficiaries.
She urged the nation to support BISP in realizing the dream of a skilled and prosperous Pakistan. “Let us work together to build a nation where every labourer is respected, fairly compensated, and provided with safe working conditions. Together, we can fulfill the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto — a skilled, prosperous, and equitable Pakistan for all.”
