Punjab Government Announces Free E-Bikes for 10,000 Zakat-Eligible Students

Lahore: In a major welfare initiative, the Punjab government has announced the provision of 10,000 electric bikes free of cost to students eligible for Zakat. The decision was made during a meeting of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council, chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Iqbal Nasrullah.
The meeting was attended by Senator Dr. Ghaus Muhammad Khan Niazi, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmad, Parliamentary Secretary Zubair Ahmed, and other members of the Punjab Assembly and officials.
Eligibility Criteria:
According to initial details, these e-bikes will be provided to students who are registered with the Zakat and Ushr Council and are confirmed as eligible recipients of Zakat. The scheme is aimed at supporting underprivileged and deserving students, both educationally and financially.
Distribution Plan:
In the first phase, 2,000 electric bikes will be distributed. However, no specific distribution date was provided by Special Assistant Nasrullah. He noted that the scheme is being launched on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has already introduced various student-focused initiatives such as laptop schemes, scholarships, and bikes on installment.
Further details regarding the scheme are expected to be released soon by the government.
