These banana peel-enriched cakes are rich in fiber, magnesium, potassium, and antioxidants, which are known to help fight chronic diseases and cancer. When banana peels are added to wheat flour, even a 10% mixture can boost the protein, carbohydrates, and fat content of bread.
In addition to its nutritional value, banana peel flour also helps extend the shelf life of baked goods. Cakes made with banana peel flour can remain fresh at room temperature for up to three months. Interestingly, the yellow peel not only enhances the nutritional profile but also adds a natural food color to baked products.
Beyond its health benefits, incorporating banana peels into your diet also helps reduce food waste, as nearly 40% of a banana’s weight is in the peel, which is typically discarded.
