Babar Azam Faces Intense Criticism Amid Poor Form in PSL 10

Karachi:Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam is under intense scrutiny following a series of poor performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. With just one win and three losses in four matches, his team has secured only 2 points, placing them in fourth position on the points table. However, it is Babar’s individual performance that has dominated discussions, with many criticizing his inability to lead from the front.
Despite being one of Pakistan’s most accomplished batsmen, Babar has struggled to find form in PSL 10, which has led to growing frustration among fans and analysts alike. His performance in the four matches has been dismal, with scores of 0, 1, 2, and 46 runs, raising further concerns ahead of key international tournaments, including the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
Amid the rising criticism, Babar’s cousin, former national team cricketer Umar Akmal, came to his defense. Umar urged Babar to ignore the pressure and focus on his natural game, assuring that he would regain form soon. “Babar is going through a tough phase, but he is Pakistan’s best batsman. My personal request to him is to forget the criticism on social media and concentrate solely on his cricket,” Umar Akmal stated.
While Umar’s comments were seen as supportive, many social media users speculated that he might be attempting to pave the way for his own potential return to the national team by defending his cousin.
Babar’s recent struggles have not been limited to PSL alone; his performances in the T20 World Cup 2024, Champions Trophy, and the New Zealand tour also failed to impress, leading to further doubts about his form heading into the international season.
Despite these setbacks, Babar Azam remains one of Pakistan’s most talented players, and fans will be hoping for a swift return to form in the coming matches.
