Clive Smith, U.S. Attorney for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, to Visit Pakistan on May 4

Islamabad: In a significant development regarding the release and repatriation case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, her U.S.-based attorney Clive Smith has decided to visit Pakistan.
During the hearing of the case, presided over by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, it was revealed that Clive Smith is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 4. Advocate Imran Shafiq informed the court of Smith’s visit and requested time for consultation with him.
The court accepted Advocate Shafiq’s request and proposed to reschedule the next hearing for May 6. When asked, the law officer and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials confirmed they had no objections to the proposed date.
The Islamabad High Court subsequently adjourned the hearing of the case until May 6. Notably, the newly appointed Additional Attorney General, Umar Aslam, did not appear during the proceedings.
