Elon Musk Named World’s Richest Person in Forbes’ 2025 List

Forbes has released its list of the world’s richest people for 2025, with Tesla’s owner Elon Musk once again claiming the top spot as the wealthiest individual.

Musk’s net worth surged by 75% during 2024, propelling him to regain the title of the world’s richest person. In 2024, Bernard Arnault from France had held the top position. However, in the new list, Musk has reached an unprecedented net worth of $342 billion, making him the richest person ever to have such a fortune.

According to Forbes’ 39th annual list, there are currently 3,028 billionaires around the globe, marking the highest number in history. Over the past year, 247 individuals joined the ranks of billionaires.

The report revealed that the wealth of billionaires increased by $2 trillion in just one year, bringing their total collective wealth to over $16 trillion.

In the latest rankings, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the second richest person with a fortune of $2,016 billion, followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who holds $2,015 billion.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is fourth with $192 billion, while Bernard Arnault, who held the top spot last year, is now fifth with $178 billion. Warren Buffett follows at sixth with $154 billion. Google co-founder Larry Page, with $144 billion, ranks seventh, and fellow co-founder Sergey Brin is eighth with $138 billion.

Spain’s Amancio Ortega holds the ninth spot with $124 billion, while former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is tenth with $118 billion.

Bill Gates, who was the world’s richest person for many years, has now dropped to the 13th position, with a net worth of $108 billion.

Mukesh Ambani from India, with a net worth of $92.5 billion, is Asia’s richest individual and ranks 18th globally.

The richest woman in the world is Alice Walton from the United States, with a fortune of $101 billion, ranking 15th. Following her, France’s Francoise Bettencourt Meyers is the second richest woman, with $81.6 billion.

The list highlights the continuous evolution of global wealth distribution, with tech billionaires dominating the top spots.
