Maria B Responds to Criticism from Aurat March Lahore Organizers

Maria B, one of Pakistan’s most renowned fashion designers and successful businesswoman, recently made headlines after being targeted by the organizers of the Aurat March in Lahore. The march, held on February 12th to celebrate National Women’s Day, saw participants carrying placards protesting against Maria B and former Pakistani actress, Meesha Khan.

In her response, Maria B rejected the message of the Aurat March and criticized its agenda. Speaking about the event, she stated, “We have already rejected the Aurat March. What should I call it? The March of the People of Lot? The March of Failed Women? Or the March of Women Who Hate Successful Ones?” She further expressed her discontent with the protesters’ placards aimed at her and Meesha Khan, questioning their upbringing and values.

Maria B emphasized that Pakistani women want to live their lives according to Islamic teachings and aspire to be successful and independent. She pointed out that they do not wish to follow the same path as “failed fashion designers and makeup artists” like those behind the Aurat March. She also accused the organizers of working on an agenda funded by external sources, stating, “I know you live off the funding and speak only what you’re paid to speak.”

Maria B’s post has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many users defending her stance. While a majority supported her views, several questioned why the Aurat March, which is supposed to be advocating for women’s rights, is targeting other women instead.
