Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently met with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during the World Governments Summit 2025 held in Dubai. Following the meeting, an official statement was released.
The statement highlighted discussions on macroeconomic stability and the ongoing IMF program. Kristalina Georgieva praised the government’s efforts for effective implementation of the IMF program, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to institutional reforms.
The statement further noted that the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s determination to maintain fiscal discipline. He also discussed the progress made under the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF), stressing the country’s commitment to implementing tax reforms, improving the energy sector, and enhancing other sectors.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the IMF Managing Director of the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving economic stability, efficient performance, and sustainable planning for the country’s future.
