PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Defends Imran Khan’s Actions and Criticizes Current Government

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President, Junaid Akbar, has defended former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision to write a letter to the country’s military chief, asking, “What was wrong with that?”

In a recent interview with a private TV channel, Junaid Akbar stated that Imran Khan would be released this year, emphasizing that if the opposition were to accept the current government, things would immediately improve. However, he made it clear that the party was not willing to accept this government.

Akbar claimed that the current leadership was forcefully placed in power and was contacted and instructed to appoint certain individuals as Chief Minister and Senators. He also criticized some members for betraying the party during the 26th Constitutional Amendment, mentioning that although they could issue show-cause notices, they lacked evidence to support their claims. He revealed that notices had been sent to Faisal Saleem, and he would soon be expelled from the party.

Further, Junaid Akbar alleged that some individuals had approached them with offers to create fake scenarios, including making videos and claiming to have been coerced into voting for certain candidates.

When questioned about leadership following the May 9 events, Akbar referred to “homeopathic leadership” as a term for those who don’t stand with party workers and stated that many in the party could not bear the hardships that followed.

Notably, Imran Khan recently entrusted Junaid Akbar with PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership, and he was also appointed Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. Akbar has since stated that the party will promote hardliners and is considering another march towards Islamabad.
