Mamata Kulkarni Opens Up About Her Virginity, Controversial Photoshoot, and Career Choices

In a recent interview on the popular Indian TV show *Aap Ki Court*, hosted by Rajat Sharma, Bollywood actress Mamata Kulkarni addressed several personal and controversial topics, including her virginity, her famous topless photoshoot, and her approach to her career.

Mamata clarified that she is still a virgin, a statement that has baffled many, especially considering the public’s perception that people in Bollywood often do anything to break into the industry. She explained that while many might enter the industry for money or through controversial means, her case was different. She emphasized that she had no such motivations, even though people struggled to believe her, given the stereotypical expectations from Bollywood aspirants.

During the interview, Mamata spoke about her infamous topless photoshoot for *Star Dust* magazine, which had sparked a nationwide debate. She shared that at the time of the photoshoot, she was in the ninth grade and had no understanding of sexuality. The magazine’s team had shown her a picture of Hollywood actress Demi Moore, and she didn’t find it to be vulgar or obscene. Mamata explained that because she was not sexually awakened at the time, she didn’t perceive nudity as pornography. Her father had served as a transport commissioner for 35 years, and she had grown up in a conservative environment, which made it difficult for her to connect nudity with obscenity.

When asked about her famous dance numbers in Bollywood, Mamata explained that as an artist, she never focused on the lyrics of the songs. Instead, her main focus was always on the dance steps, much like other dancers such as Madhuri Dixit, who also concentrated on their performance rather than the lyrics.

Mamata also discussed the infamous topless photoshoot, revealing that she was young and inexperienced at the time and didn’t fully understand the consequences of her actions. She admitted that she was primarily focused on advancing her career and didn’t think through the potential personal and professional repercussions of such a shoot.

After a long hiatus, Mamata returned to India in December 2024 and has been in the news since. She was recently nominated as the *Mahamanndaleshwar* (head priest) of the Kinnar Akhara during the Maha Kumbh Mela but was removed from the position shortly after.
