Pakistani Company Files Lawsuit in Sindh High Court Over Seized Commercial Consignment in India

KARACHI:A case has reached the Sindh High Court regarding the seizure of a commercial consignment from a Pakistani company at an Indian port. The Pakistani company, *Cosmos Engineering*, has filed a lawsuit for damages against a shipping company and a freight service provider following the confiscation of its goods.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Usman Farooq, argued that the consignment, which was imported from China, was seized by Indian authorities at the Mumbai port due to the negligence of the shipping company. According to the lawyer, the Indian authorities accused the consignment of being linked to nuclear and missile programs.
The lawyer clarified that the imported machinery was for commercial use, a fact confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in their official statement.
The plaintiff’s lawyer further accused the shipping company of conspiring with Indian authorities to have the consignment seized, thereby causing damage to the plaintiff’s international reputation.
The plaintiff has asked the court to direct the defendants to pay over 20.91 crore rupees in compensation for the damages caused by the seizure.
