Karachi:Pakistani model and actress Nadia Hussain recently revealed the disturbing realities of the showbiz industry in Pakistan, highlighting how the ‘give and take’ culture and unethical demands have been prevalent for years. Speaking on a podcast, Nadia opened up about the darker aspects of the industry, sharing her personal experiences and insights.
Nadia revealed that male figures in the industry often make inappropriate demands from young aspiring actors and actresses in exchange for work opportunities. She also mentioned that she knows women who have accepted such offers, but emphasized that she does not pass judgment on their decisions, as it’s ultimately their choice.
The actress further stated that even married individuals are involved in such activities, and their involvement often goes unnoticed by others. She explained that while unethical demands in exchange for work have always existed in the showbiz industry, these practices have become far more common in recent years.
Nadia also shared a personal experience from about two and a half years ago, where she was offered a hosting opportunity for a three-day conference in Bhurban. She initially negotiated her fee, which the organizers agreed to, but after finalizing the deal, she was told that she would need to attend a ‘special dinner’ as part of the arrangement. Nadia firmly declined this request, calling out the exploitative nature of such demands in the industry.
Nadia’s candid revelations have sparked conversations about the need for transparency and ethical standards in Pakistan’s entertainment sector, urging a reconsideration of how opportunities are given and what is expected in return.
