AI Helps Save Life: ChatGPT Diagnoses Deadly Illness

A social media user has claimed that artificial intelligence, specifically ChatGPT, helped diagnose a life-threatening condition, ultimately saving their life. In a Reddit post, the anonymous user shared their experience of sudden and severe body pain after light exercise, which led to confusion about their deteriorating health. ChatGPT suggested that they consult a doctor immediately.
“I described my symptoms to ChatGPT, and it promptly recommended that I go to the hospital, informing me that my symptoms were associated with rhabdomyolysis,” the user wrote. Acting on this advice, the individual went to the hospital, where tests confirmed the diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis.
“After a week of treatment, I fully recovered, and I even used ChatGPT to analyze my lab test results. The analysis provided by ChatGPT matched exactly with what the medical team had indicated, and I knew what was happening even before the doctor explained it to me.”
Rhabdomyolysis is a severe medical condition where muscle tissue breaks down rapidly, leading to complications such as kidney damage, metabolic acidosis, and electrolyte imbalances. If left untreated, it can be fatal. This user’s timely intervention, prompted by ChatGPT’s suggestion, likely saved their life.
