Young Doctors Association Balochistan Condemns DG Health's Interference and Calls for Investigation

Quetta:The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has strongly condemned the interference of the Director General (DG) Health in the affairs of hospitals and the misuse of authority. In a press release, the YDA spokesperson accused the DG Health of taking undue interest in tertiary hospitals, claiming it was a cover-up for hidden agendas.
The press release further stated that during a meeting at Civil Hospital Quetta, the Medical Superintendent (MS) expressed his deep frustration with DG Health’s interference in hospital matters, especially in the presence of the Health Minister and other officials. The MS made it clear that if institutions continue to interfere in each other’s domains, the system would not be able to function properly.
The spokesperson also revealed that the DG Health attempted to cover up the incident at the MS office at Civil Hospital by staging an attack by doctors. It was claimed on social media that nearly 40 doctors attacked the DG, but no visible injuries were found on the DG, casting doubt on the authenticity of the claims.
The YDA further highlighted the DG Health’s antagonistic behavior towards health department employees, particularly due to the Grand Health Alliance Balochistan’s efforts to procure machinery and equipment through negotiated tendering, amounting to over 10 billion rupees. They allege that the DG Health has taken extreme steps to cover up discrepancies in this procurement process, aiming to conceal his hidden motives.
The spokesperson demanded that the government launch an investigation into these incidents and establish a medical board to uncover the truth. The YDA called for the immediate suspension of officers who are using false propaganda for personal gain, urging the government to take stern action to prevent further damage.
Additionally, the YDA revealed that the DG Health himself admitted to being the chairman of the procurement board, which they argue exposes his personal interests in pitting health department employees and government entities against each other to further his own secretive objectives.
The Young Doctors Association Balochistan has called on the government to investigate the DG Health’s interference and irregularities, and to take strong action against those responsible in order to eliminate corruption and mismanagement within the health sector.
