19 Militants Convicted by Military Courts Released Following Mercy Petitions
Islamabad:Nineteen individuals convicted by military courts were released on Thursday after their mercy petitions were accepted. The release followed the legal proceedings concerning the petitions filed under the “Mercy Petition” process.
The convicts, who were involved in the tragic events of May 9, had exercised their legal right by submitting petitions for clemency during the implementation of their sentences. In these petitions, the convicts admitted their involvement in the incidents of May 9.
**Muhammad Bilawal Hussain’s Plea:**
Convict Muhammad Bilawal Hussain, in his mercy petition, expressed regret for his involvement in the May 9 events, stating that it was a grave mistake on his part. He requested the authorities to show mercy and grant him pardon. He humbly appealed for fair and kind treatment.
**Zahid Khan’s Appeal:**
Convict Zahid Khan, in his petition, stated that he was deeply ashamed of his wrongdoings against the state and requested clemency for his actions.
**Saeed Alam’s Appeal:**
Another convict, Saeed Alam, expressed his remorse for his participation in the events of May 9. In his petition, he sought forgiveness for his actions, acknowledging that he had made grave mistakes against the state. He humbly requested that his sentence be waived.
**Muhammad Suleman’s Petition:**
Convict Muhammad Suleman also filed a plea for mercy, admitting his mistakes and expressing deep regret for his actions on May 9. He appealed to be treated with kindness and vowed to fully cooperate with the authorities moving forward.
**Muhammad Ilyas’s Request:**
Convict Muhammad Ilyas, in his plea, requested mercy, explaining that he was misled by certain individuals on May 9. He took full responsibility for his actions and acknowledged the shame it brought upon his family.
**Yasir Nawaz’s Appeal:**
Convict Yasir Nawaz humbly requested that his case be treated with leniency, admitting his mistakes in inciting people against the state and state institutions on May 9.
The petitions of the 19 convicts were approved on humanitarian grounds and in accordance with the law. The legal process allowed the convicts to be released, as their pleas for clemency were deemed valid by the authorities.
