164 Saudi Government Employees Arrested Over Corruption and Misuse of Power
Islamabad:In a major crackdown on corruption, **164 government employees** in **Saudi Arabia** have been arrested on charges of **bribery** and **misuse of authority**. The **Saudi Anti-Corruption Authority** (Nazaha) confirmed that those detained are linked to four key ministries: the **Ministry of Interior**, the **Ministry of Education**, the **Ministry of Health**, and the **Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs**.
According to the Anti-Corruption Authority, last month, the department conducted inspections of **1,635 government offices**, during which numerous violations of institutional regulations and criminal cases were uncovered.
Nazaha stated that **370 individuals** were detained for questioning during the inspections. Some of them were later released on bail, while the rest remain under investigation.
This operation is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to tackle corruption within its public sector, demonstrating the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability. The authorities have vowed to continue monitoring government offices and taking strict action against any misconduct.
