Until Yesterday, PTI Was a Zionist Party According to Maulana: Khawaja Asif
ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, mocking JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s support for PTI, has said that it seems the Maulana has brought them (PTI) into the fold of Islam.
In a post on X after his speech in the National Assembly, Khawaja Asif said that until yesterday, PTI was, according to the Maulana, a Zionist party.
Apparently, out of affection, it seems the Maulana has now brought them into the fold of Islam. The Maulana has earned a long reward.
Responding to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s points in the National Assembly, the Defence Minister said that he taunts me to have some shame, some modesty; I say that you too should look into your own collar. In the politics of the past forty years, which privileges did you benefit from, which principles did you keep promoting, and which principles did you yourself keep violating? The principles you preach to others — did you ever practise them yourself? Let someone tell the House what achievement he made during his ten years as Chairman of the Kashmir Committee that benefited the Kashmir issue. What are his services for the Kashmir cause, apart from obtaining privileges from that position and enjoying a free ride? Despite this, he takes a position that contradicts his own past stance. His entire political history is full of contradictions, yet he speaks as if he has been washed with Zamzam water. The reality is that no one in this House can claim to be free of every flaw.

The Defence Minister said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman spoke about Afghanistan, saying he was ready to go there. The question is, was he the Foreign Minister at the time that he would go there? In what context and with reference to whom did he make this offer? He also raised the point that the Defence Minister or Foreign Minister should go to Iran or Afghanistan — but in what capacity was he offering his services himself? Apparently, behind this, an attempt is visible to create additional importance in his politics, to use it for political gain and to extract maximum benefits from the government.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that PTI’s brothers have become politically orphaned, but they too have taken shelter under the Maulana’s canopy and, as it were, made themselves his political adopted children. He said that those who preach shame and modesty to others should also look into their own collar. The Maulana obtained the position of Leader of the Opposition through “Nora Kushti” during the Musharraf era, and at the same time also enjoyed the pleasures of government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a long time.
He further said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained Chairman of the Kashmir Committee for ten years, but the question is: what service did he render to the Kashmir cause apart from obtaining privileges and protocol? Whatever honours and positions were given to him, it now feels that all those decisions were wrong. What scandals the Maulana committed during the PDM government too — if my mouth opens, the facts will come before everyone.
The Defence Minister said bluntly that the Maulana completely forgets his past and rains arrows of criticism on political opponents, but at least I have the moral courage that when I speak in parliament, my past is clearly visible to me and I keep in mind that fingers are not raised at me regarding the past as well.
On this occasion, Khawaja Asif also defended that when he himself speaks in favour of the army or a hybrid system on some occasion, he is taunted by citing his old speeches, even though each of his positions and speeches was correct according to the specific background and political context of its time. The way of hypocrisy in politics will no longer be tolerated, and he has every right to answer every critic in the mirror of their past.
