Ali Amin Gandapur Reportedly Restores Contacts with Federal Government

PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reportedly resumed contacts with the federal government following a political deadlock in the province, the end of the provincial government and the imposition of governor’s rule.
According to media reports citing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sources, communication between Gandapur and the federal government, which had previously been suspended, has resumed on the instructions and decision of the party’s provincial parliamentary party.
Sources said all contacts between the two sides had completely broken down after governor’s rule was imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11. However, Gandapur has now reportedly restarted efforts to engage with the federal government.
According to the reports, the PTI provincial parliamentary party, during an important meeting held on October 20, authorised Gandapur to lead formal negotiations and establish contacts with the federal government.
A majority of the provincial parliamentary party reportedly favours ending political tensions through dialogue and resolving outstanding issues through negotiations.
Following the decision, preliminary discussions were held with two key federal ministers who had been part of the federal government’s negotiating team before the imposition of governor’s rule, the sources said.
Restoration of Provincial Government, Release of Workers Among Key Priorities
According to party sources, the primary objectives of the renewed contacts are to explore ways to restore the provincial government and secure the immediate release of PTI workers arrested during the political unrest.
The sources said discussions were being pursued with a focus on these two priorities as the party seeks a way out of the ongoing political crisis.
PTI is now reportedly awaiting a formal response from the federal government and clarity on its next course of action.
There has been no official confirmation of the reported resumption of contacts or the outcome of the preliminary discussions from the federal government.
