PTI Has a Mafia That Undermines Merit and Promotes Its Own People: Sher Afzal Marwat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has a mafia that undermines merit and promotes its own people, MNA Sher Afzal Marwat said while speaking to Geo News outside Parliament.
Marwat claimed that a “land-grabbing mafia” had taken control of PTI, alleging that the party’s internal affairs were dominated by a group that prioritised personal interests over merit.
Commenting on the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said the province’s people had remained silent for the past two or three days despite the emergency-related developments. He described their silence as a “slap in the face” of those who had been claiming that hundreds of thousands of people would take to the streets.
According to Marwat, the lack of public mobilisation reflected the party’s failure to hold its own government accountable. He alleged that PTI had done little beyond spreading hatred, lies and abusive language.
“There is a mafia within PTI that violates merit and promotes its own people,” he said, adding that certain individuals were engaged in conspiracies and backbiting rather than constructive political work.
Marwat further predicted that the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur would regain political dominance in the province within two months.
He said he would take to the streets at that time and predicted that those who had removed him from the party would personally ask him to return.
The PTI lawmaker’s remarks highlight the internal differences within the party amid political tensions surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
