Governor’s Rule, Emergency Cannot Solve Problems; Government’s Days Are Numbered: Hafiz Naeem

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has opposed the imposition of Governor’s Rule and an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying such measures cannot resolve the country’s problems and could further intensify the political crisis.
In a statement posted on social media platform X regarding the decision to impose Governor’s Rule and an emergency in the province, Hafiz Naeem said that when those in power resort to such measures to govern, it indicates that their government’s days are numbered.
He said the political developments initiated by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties at the time of the regime change had continued to undermine democracy.
According to Hafiz Naeem, the political history of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was marked by the imposition of Governor’s Rule and a failure to respect the public mandate.
He further claimed that the system imposed through what he described as Form 47 had completely failed.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch also criticised the decision, describing the imposition of an emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a major mistake.
He warned that the move would further aggravate the political crisis rather than resolve the prevailing issues.
