US dollar falls to Rs277.01 as Pakistani rupee gains

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee continued its gradual recovery against the US dollar, gaining one paisa in the interbank market on Thursday.

As per the report, market data showed the dollar closed at Rs277.01, down from Rs277.02 in the previous trading session. The latest movement reflects a marginal improvement in the local currency’s value.

However, currency analysts attribute the rupee’s relative stability to foreign exchange inflows and improving reserve conditions, although exchange-rate movements remain sensitive to domestic economic developments and global financial trends.

Meanwhile, the US dollar remained firm in international markets as investors monitored inflation trends and expectations surrounding US Federal Reserve policy.

Moreover, analysts say sustained rupee stability could help lower import costs. Still, the impact on consumer prices would also depend on global commodity prices, domestic costs and other economic factors.

The rupee’s future performance is expected to depend on foreign exchange reserves, dollar supply and demand, economic policies and international market conditions.
